Base B1000B K-Road S3 HRO CI HI SRC Work Shoe

Base B1000B K-Road is the winter and heavy-duty model of the Kaptiv series. In addition to meeting all the requirements of the S3 safety class, it offers protection against extreme temperature conditions throughout all four seasons with CI (−17°C cold insulation) and HI (heat insulation from hot ground) codes. Lightweight aluminum toe cap, waterproof nubuck leather upper, and 300°C heat-resistant HRO sole create a complete protection profile for electricians, construction workers, site workers, and heavy industry employees. With patented i-daptive® sole technology and the Dry'n Air air circulation system, it provides high comfort even during winter shifts.

Featured Characteristics

S3 Safety Class — Full Protection Package

The S3 class combines 200 Joule impact and 15 kN crushing resistance, waterproof upper, strip-based puncture resistance, and a closed heel in a single standard. Beyond S1P and S1PS models, it covers waterproofing and puncture protection, which are mandatory for outdoor and mixed risk conditions.

CI — −17°C Cold Insulation

The cold insulation insole, compliant with EN ISO 20345 CI standard, prevents the transmission of ground cold up to −17°C to the foot. It protects foot health and blood circulation in environments requiring long periods of standing in low temperatures, such as cold storage warehouses, construction sites, and outdoor winter work.

HI — Heat Insulation from Hot Ground

The HI code limits the transmission of heat from hot surfaces to the foot. The presence of both CI and HI codes means that the same model provides protection in both cold and hot ground conditions; this is critical for environments with high temperature variability, such as construction, metallurgy, and power plants.

HRO — 300°C Heat Resistant Sole

The dual-density PU/HRO rubber sole maintains its integrity in scenarios of momentary contact with hot surfaces, with 1 minute of contact resistance up to 300°C. It eliminates the risk of the sole material melting or sticking in welding, casting, and power plant environments.

Aluminum Toe Cap — Lightweight and Non-Heat Conductive

The aluminum toe cap, with 200 Joule impact and 15 kN crushing resistance, is 50% lighter than steel alternatives and non-heat conductive. There is no risk of toes getting cold in cold environments; this feature is critically important, especially in winter models with CI code. The lightness advantage felt with every step during long shifts significantly reduces overall foot fatigue.

Waterproof Nubuck Leather Upper

The nubuck leather upper, which meets the waterproof standard required by the S3 class, permanently blocks external moisture and splash water. The leather material also provides long-term durability and abrasion resistance; it is suitable for more severe conditions compared to textile-upper models.

i-daptive® Smart Sole Technology

A patented midsole system that absorbs impact energy proportionally by sensing the foot's ground pressure and returns the accumulated energy in rhythm with walking. It significantly reduces joint and muscle fatigue during long working hours in winter heavy-duty models.

Dry'n Air Active Air Circulation & SmellStop Lining

The Dry'n Air system, operating through a network of channels and holes in the insole, pushes air forward with every step of heel pressure; moist and warm air is expelled while fresh air is drawn in. This feature, especially important in winter models, provides active balance against internal moisture accumulation that can occur due to the waterproof upper. The SmellStop antibacterial lining provides a second layer of hygiene support.

BOA® Lacing System

The BOA® dial system, easily adjustable even with gloves on, wraps the shoe with equal pressure at every point and eliminates the risk of laces coming undone. The ability to put on and take off quickly saves time, especially during transitions on construction sites and in the field.

SRC — Certified Slip Resistance on Dual Surfaces

The SRC slip resistance certification, tested on both ceramic and steel surfaces according to EN ISO 13287 standard, provides secure grip on wet and icy surfaces. Ground slip resistance is critically important in winter conditions, and SRC confirms this need with independent laboratory tests.

Suitable for Which Sectors?

Base B1000B K-Road can be safely used in electrical installation and panel assembly, construction and outdoor site work (S3 + CI winter protection), cold storage and logistics (CI −17°C), metallurgy and casting (HRO + HI), welding and blacksmithing, shipyard and bridge-road works, power plant and petrochemical facilities, as well as agriculture and mining sectors. It is especially recommended for outdoor work where variable temperature conditions are experienced throughout all four seasons.

Why Base B1000B K-Road?

Many S3 models meet waterproof and puncture resistance requirements; however, models carrying both CI and HI codes simultaneously are few. The K-Road protects the foot from cold on sub-zero grounds at winter construction sites, while its HRO sole and HI insulation ensure safe contact with hot surfaces at different times of the same day. The lightweight aluminum toe cap makes a noticeable difference in reducing fatigue felt with every step during long shifts. The i-daptive® and Dry'n Air combination elevates this comprehensive protection package to the upper segment of the industry in terms of comfort as well.
